Pastoral Care

 

Our School Chaplaincy Service

 

Chaplaincy is a well-accepted and valued pastoral care model in many parts of society (e.g. defence forces, sports, industry, hospitals etc).

 

The Chaplaincy Service at this school is provided by a Pastoral Care Worker, on behalf of the local combined Christian community, employed by Schools Ministry Group (SMG).

 

The Chaplaincy Service is funded by the National School Chaplaincy Program (NSCP), administered by DECD SA, with additional contribution from the local community.

 

The Lyndoch School communities Pastoral Care Worker is Jo Herrmann.

 

Jo’s role is to:

• Pastorally support the school in its aim to be a safe and supportive learning environment. Jo contributes through involvement in a variety of school events including: camps, excursions as well as organised lunch time activities.
• Work closely and in partnership with leadership and other wellbeing staff in the school to provide pastoral care and practical support to students, families and staff as requested.

• Link families with available community resources and services by providing relevant information and the necessary support.  This information does include church groups.

 

The Pastoral Support Worker does not promote or discriminate on the grounds of any particular ideology, but works to enable a supportive, inclusive and caring environment within the school for all students.
